Microsoft is the king of the gaming world: $465 million in giant revenue

In fact, two games in particular are behind Microsoft's massive revenue: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The Call of Duty series, in particular, has been an indispensable classic of the gaming world, contributing a huge amount to Microsoft's coffers. Microsoft's multi-platform strategy for gaming also played a big part in this success. In December, 64% of spending on Microsoft games came from the PlayStation platform. In other words, PlayStation users also showed great interest in Microsoft's games.

Right behind Microsoft is Electronic Arts (EA). EA earned 366 million dollars thanks to the success of FIFA 25. However, FIFA 25's revenues dropped slightly compared to last year. Christmas Day, meanwhile, was a feast for gamers. According to data from Ampere, players worldwide spent a total of 30 million hours on Fortnite. In other words, the average gamer spent 2.3 hours playing on Christmas Day. The Call of Duty series of games also attracted attention with a total of 20 million hours of gameplay on December 25. So, we can say that everyone was in front of the screen on Christmas Day.

Last month, four major Chinese-made games made a big impact on the global gaming market. NetEase's Marvel Rivals, Tencent's Path of Exile 2, Paper Games' Infinity Nikki and Tencent's Delta Force: Hawk Ops breathed new life into the gaming world. Thanks to the success of these games, Tencent (ranked #5) and NetEase (#9) entered Ampere's monthly rankings for the first time.

Piers Harding-Rolls, Research Director at Ampere, said the global expansion of China's gaming companies is bringing new competition to the game console and PC gaming market. “China's leading gaming companies mean more competition in an already competitive industry,” Harding-Rolls said.
