Sony has achieved a first in its 80-year history!

Sony, the famous Japanese technology giant, has entered an unexpected change process. Here are the changes made in the company's management team...

Sony Corporation has made a major change in its management team, appointing new names to head both the company and the PlayStation division. According to the announcement, Hiroki Totoki will be the new CEO of Sony as of April 1, 2025. This decision was made after the current CEO Kenichiro Yoshida stepped down from leadership. Yoshida will continue his role at Sony as chairman of the company's board of directors.

PlayStation's new leader: Hideaki Nishino

PlayStation, one of Sony's biggest divisions, has also undergone a significant change. Previously, with the retirement of Jim Ryan, the PlayStation division was split into two: Platform Business Group and Studio Business Group.

However, Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of PlayStation. With this change, Nishino will be responsible for the PlayStation hardware and software ecosystem, while game studios and content management will be entrusted to Hermen Hulst.

In addition to developing and publishing PlayStation games, Hermen Hulst will also spearhead series and movie adaptations of games through PlayStation Productions. With this move, Sony aims to both strengthen competition on the gaming side and bring its games to different media platforms.

Sony appoints its first female CFO in 80 years!

These management changes are not limited to PlayStation. Sony's new chief financial officer (CFO) is Lin Tao, the first female CFO in the company's 80-year history. Considering that Sony is a giant company with more than 110,000 employees, these appointments are of great importance for the company's future strategies.

In recent years, Sony has focused on cameras, TVs, PlayStation and entertainment, with a focus on high margin products. It remains to be seen how this strategy will evolve with the new management. Also, the fact that the Afeela electric car, developed in cooperation with Honda, includes a PlayStation 5 shows that the company is trying to integrate the gaming industry into different areas.
